Nurse Pixel Saves the Day - Emergency Surgery on Randolph Monkey

When you are a nurse, you are always "on duty" in a way, because you never know when your helpful skills might be needed. This past Sunday was no exception. The day started out like any other. I was spending time with my family, laughing and playing, when a serious and life threatening accident happened.

My dear friend Randolph Monkey suffered a severe
spinal injury while playing an especially rigorous game of "Shake and Chase" and his tail came off! We've played many times before with no injuries, but this time proved to be different.

At first I was mortified and feared the worst, but then my years of nursing took over and I jumped into action. I called upon the best person I knew who could sew him back up and save him. Time was of the essence and I needed Randolph Monkey to be okay. Luckily, Mommy was right there when it happened.

She grabbed her stitching kit as I lay Randolph on the sterile white sheet in preparation for his surgery. Once she prepared what was needed for his surgery, I inspected the needle and ensured all was in order before we began. This had to be done right the first time! Of course, I didn't doubt her precision hands, I was just very worried about Randolph, as I hoped he was strong enough to take this type of injury and subsequent surgery to patch him up.
"As bad as it looks right now, I have a good feeling about this Pixel. He's made of some pretty tough stuff(ing)," Mommy said as she began her work. I silently prayed as I assisted through every stage.
Seconds seemed like minutes, minutes seemed like hours, then suddenly she was done.
I could not believe my eyes! Not only had she mended his back from being torn open, but she reattached his tail perfectly as if it had never been ripped off! Surgeon Mommy told me that she used extra strong reinforced stitching techniques so that his back and tail would be stronger than it was to begin with. He's practically Robo-Monkey now! Randolph needed to rest of course from the entire ordeal, but I was able to snuggle up to him and let him know it was all better and he was going to be just fine. Nurse and patient were two very happy campers!
So, the day ended well, in spite of this serious emergency, and that's all any of us can hope for. Just remember, if a sudden emergency occurs in your life, keep a level head, ask for help and do what you can to be of assistance.

The Joy of Spring Snow in the Mountains - Pixel's Wordless Wednesday

Although the first day of Spring arrived a few days ago, we always have at least one or two nice snowfalls after the first robin heralding Spring appears in our yard. This morning was a sweet treat in that the early birds brought a beautiful blanket of snow with them! 4 inches of light, fluffy white snow crystals sparkled on the ground and our house.  I had a wonderful time playing outside on the back deck in in the snow today. It was a beautiful winter wonderland of fun!
Snow on my chin? What do you mean?
Throw me a snowball Mommy, I'll catch it!

In coming...

I'll go get that snowball...I think it went over here.

Isn't all this snow pretty Mommy?

I sure do love the snow...not only is it pretty, but it tastes real good too!

Of course I have to taste the snow Mommy...I'm a snow eating connoisseur of sorts. And I'm pretty sure this snow is super fresh. I can tell it was just made.

Some people get a milk mustache, well I prefer a snow mustache...AND beard, BOL!!

Happy Wordless Wednesday friends! Visit some of the pet blogs below to see what they have been up to on this fine day.

The Joy of Playtime with Friends on a Winter Afternoon - Pixel's Wordless Wednesday

It's very cold and snowy today, so I could not really go outside and play. But my little friend Blue Bunny decided she'd get me to play inside with her while the winter sun shone through the window of our room. We had a wonderful time together!
Image of Pixel looking up at Baby Blue Bunny toy She had such a perfect way of getting me to play. Can you guess what she might have whispered to me to elicit such excitement in my face?

The Joy of the Game Part II - Pixel's Football Action Shots

Here are some of my favorite photos that Mommy took of me when we played football this week, all in honor of SUPER DOG SUNDAY and SUPER BOWL SUNDAY.
A Pre-Game football portrait of me with my official SUPER DOG SUNDAY football.

Listening to my coach for instructions as the game begins. Nothing like a beautiful sunset as we start to play. ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL?!

And we have kickoff. The joy of the game begins for me as I watch that ball fly through the air!

What a catch! I didn't know I could play this well so early in the game.

Another high flying catch. This time I jumped so high to catch that football that I couldn't even fit in the frame! My goodness, this is fun! (and I DID catch that ball...see the very top of the image, there it is.)

Listening as the crowd goes wild!

Wow! The fans are really lovin' my plays, as they have created a collage of my image in the crowd. That makes me feel super special!

Almost....almost. I got it!

The Joy of the Game...written all over my face as I bring the ball in for a touchdown!

Announcer says: "...and Pixel Blue Eyes brings it home again. And the crowd starts chanting 'Pixel, Pixel'!"

Running the ball across the line as I make my final touchdown and win the game. My goodness that was fun! What a wonderful day!
